Built for the way people actually create photo products

Keep the entire experience in one place

Users upload photos, edit images, personalise layouts, and preview their order without leaving your platform or opening another tool.

Start with layouts that already look good

Templates help users begin with confidence. Instead of arranging everything from scratch, they focus on adding their own photos and personal touches.

Make photo books feel effortless

Automatically organise and place photos into layouts so users spend less time arranging pages and more time reliving memories.

Key capabilities

How to integrate the photo print editor

Four steps from a customer uploading a photo to a print-ready file.

Step 01

Embed the editor

CE.SDK provides the editor base. Configure it for the canvas types, crop ratios, and tools that match your product range, and customize whatever does not fit out of the box.

Open Theming Demo

Photo print editor UI that matches the surrounding product, not a generic design tool
Step 02

Templates per product type

Design any number of photo product templates with placeholder zones and editing constraints configured per product type, books, postcards, canvases, prints. Users start with a polished layout that fits the product instead of a blank page.

Open Placeholder Demo

Polished photo product templates that users can personalize quickly across books, postcards, and canvas prints
Step 03

Auto-fit photos into product layouts

Pass a photo collection to the layout API and arrange images across pages and grids automatically. Portrait and landscape orientation, zone sizing, and per-product layout rules are handled by the engine, so users open a pre-populated product ready to refine.

Open Layouts Demo

Automatic photo layout arranging large photo collections into multi-page books and grid products
Step 04

Validate before export

Design validation flags resolution, bleed, and layout issues in the editor as customers work. Rules are configured per product type, so issues surface before files reach print.

Open Validation Demo

Editor preview accurately reflecting the final printed product, with validation warnings surfaced inline before export

One creative experience across every device and product

People start projects on one device and finish them on another. They might create a photo book on desktop, review it on mobile, then place the order later. IMG.LY keeps the editing experience consistent across platforms and across every photo print product you support.

Identical rendering everywhere

Photo edits, layouts, and print rules produce the same output on web, iOS, Android, and server. What customers see on screen is what gets sent to print.

Pick up where you left off, on any device

Customers can start a photo book on desktop and finish it on mobile without losing edits, layout choices, or photo placements between sessions.

Server-side generation for high-volume orders

Generate personalised photo products in batches programmatically via the Node.js renderer, useful for schools, events, and corporate gifting workflows that can’t run through a manual editor session.

Success story

How PostBuddy Launched Personalized Direct Mail for E-Commerce Without Building a Custom Editor

difference in A/B-tested campaign performance

custom editor maintenance — embedded SDK instead

PostBuddy is a Denmark-based startup modernizing direct mail marketing — enabling e-commerce brands to create, personalize, and automate postcard campaigns integrated with their online workflows.

It’s hard to imagine we could have launched PostBuddy without a design editor SDK. Customers want an integrated experience, and we needed to channel our limited resources into our core mission, not a custom editor.

Challenge

PostBuddy needed an embedded design editor that lets non-technical e-commerce users create print-ready postcards with personalization and variable data — without burning early-stage engineering on a custom editor.

Solution

Integrated CE.SDK to deliver an in-app design experience with mail merge, custom branding, and template guidance for streamlined postcard creation.

  • 4× performance gap between A/B-tested designs proved design variation matters.
  • Expanded reach into Sweden and Norway on top of the Danish home market.
  • Engineering stayed focused on PostBuddy’s core direct-mail automation.

Why photo print teams trust IMG.LY

Built for non-designer creators

Photo print customers are not designers. They are people sending birthday cards, ordering wedding albums, or printing family photos. Guided templates, simple editing, no design-tool overhead.

Flexibility across every photo product

Books, postcards, canvases, calendars, prints. The same engine handles every format, with per-product templates, editing controls, and validation rules.

Resolution checks, layout validation, and export specs run automatically inside the editor, preventing reprints and refunds at the point of order, not after.

One integration, every platform

Web, iOS, Android, macOS, and server. One SDK, consistent rendering, one set of templates and rules maintained across every surface your photo print product runs on.

Photo Prints FAQs

Yes - cropping, brightness and contrast adjustments, filters, effects, and background removal are all available inside the editor. Users can work with their own photos from upload to final design without needing a separate image editing tool. The feature set exposed is fully configurable per product type.

The SDK supports programmatic image arrangement - you can sort photos by date, fill layout templates automatically, and handle portrait and landscape orientation mixing server-side via the Node.js renderer. Users open an editor session with their photos already arranged, rather than starting from an empty book.

Resolution validation runs inside the editor against configurable DPI thresholds per product type. Users are alerted when an image doesn't meet the minimum resolution for the product they're creating - before they place the order, while there's still time to upload a better file.

Yes - the toolbar, editing tools, and template behaviour are all configurable per use case. A photo book editor can expose page management and multi-image layout tools; a postcard editor can surface a simpler set of options. The underlying engine is the same; the experience adapts to the product.

The editor operates client-side, so a permanent internet connection is not required for it to run. Once the device reconnects, updates are applied and export tracking is communicated. For fully offline environments, contact the sales team to discuss offline licensing options.

The SDK runs on web (React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, Svelte), iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, macOS, and Electron. The same engine and template system applies across all of them - no separate implementation per platform.
