About IMG.LY

We build creative editing SDKs used by 600+ customers and powering 500+ million creations every month. We’re bootstrapped, profitable, and growing, and most of our best customers still start with a conversation. Our marketing team is small, senior, and fast.

The role

Almost everyone who becomes a customer finds us before they ever speak to us. They search, or they ask an AI assistant which tool to use, and our name either comes back or it does not. Roughly half of our buyers now arrive through an AI answer.

Your job is to make that name come back more often, by getting our research, our writing and our video in front of the publications, editors, newsletters, reviewers and communities that both buyers and models pay attention to.

What you’ll do

  • Pitch our research to trade editors by name, in print and in tech.
  • Book and run paid placements in print and developer newsletters.
  • Get us included in round-ups, comparison pieces and “best tool for X” articles.
  • Run the review-site programme. Keep G2 and Capterra complete, and ask happy customers for reviews.
  • Show up regularly in the developer communities where people are already asking how to build the thing we sell.
  • Look after our social channels and company profiles.
  • Brief our video person on what to make and where it should land.

Most of this is outreach, and it stays manual. There is no tool that does it. That is exactly why it is a job rather than a task.

What a typical month looks like

You pitch five editors and two of them reply. One says yes, and your research shows up in a publication our buyers read. You book a newsletter slot, brief a video, answer nine questions in two forums, and chase three customers for reviews.

At the end of the month we look at the numbers together. How many placements landed. How many new sites link to us. Whether AI assistants name us more often than they did four weeks ago, which we test by running a fixed set of 100 buying questions across four models. And whether your work moved our visibility on a surface we care about.

You will often be working on that last one with our SEO specialist or our Growth Lead, against a KPI the three of you share. Sometimes it does not move. Then we work out why, and you try something else.

AI-first, by default

You will use AI heavily, because this job is mostly research and personalisation at volume. Finding the right editor at the right publication, understanding what they have written before, and drafting fifty notes that each read like a person wrote them. That work used to be impossible for one person. It is now the job.

There is a second reason it matters here. The thing you are optimising for is an AI system deciding what to recommend. You will be one of very few marketers who works on both sides of that, and it is a young enough discipline that nobody has ten years of experience in it. Someone starting now is close to level with people who have been in marketing for a decade.

What we’re looking for

  • You can write a short email that a busy stranger wants to answer.
  • You read a lot, and you remember what you read.
  • English to a high standard. You will be pitching editors in writing, so it has to be good.
  • You would rather send fifty personal notes than one mass email.
  • You are already at home in at least one online community, and you can tell a useful answer from an advert.
  • You are comfortable being told a number did not move.
  • You are based in the EU and already have the right to work here. We cannot sponsor visas.

You do not need a marketing degree, previous PR experience, a portfolio, or any knowledge of printing or software when you start.

Bonus points

  • You already run something with an audience. A newsletter, a channel, a subreddit, a Discord.
  • You have talked your way into something you had no business being invited to.
  • You can edit video, or you want to learn.
  • German. Some of the print trade press we want to reach is German-language, so it opens doors. French or Italian help too.

What this job is not

A conference circuit. We do not send this role around trade shows, because that sits with sales. Where an event is genuinely about publishers, editors or media, and a relationship gets built there, you go.

What we offer

  • A very competitive salary for an entry-level role.
  • Fully remote within the EU, and a company retreat where you meet the whole team in person.
  • A bootstrapped, profitable company that thinks long-term, with no VC pressure.
  • A Claude Max account of your own. We buy the frontier AI tools.
  • Budget for genuine experimentation. If you think a placement is worth trying, you make the case and we try it.
  • A small, senior team where your impact is visible, and where nobody is fenced into a function.
  • Room to grow. The scope of this role expands with the person in it, and what that turns into depends on what you turn out to be good at.

How to apply

Email hr@img.ly with one thing: pick a publication, newsletter or community you think our research belongs in, and tell us in a few lines why, and how you would pitch it. A CV is welcome. A cover letter is not necessary. We prioritise samples over resumes.
