What Took 15 Days Now Takes 15 Minutes: How GoMD Built Origami on CE.SDK
GoMD is a marketing technology company that helps brands and agencies scale content production with speed, consistency, and intelligence. Its platform, Origami, turns a single design into thousands of on-brand assets across formats and channels, from static visuals to dynamic video.
Origami runs on IMG.LY’s CE.SDK. Here is how GoMD built a complete creative operations platform on top of it, and what changed for the teams that use it.
The Challenge: Creative That Burns Out Faster Than Teams Can Refresh It
Creative teams face a structural problem: campaigns burn out fast, especially in high-rotation channels like e-commerce, retail, and digital media. A single asset can lose its impact in days, so teams have to constantly refresh and adapt materials across every format and channel. Done by hand, that simply does not scale.
In many of the industries we support, campaigns burn out fast. A single asset might lose effectiveness in just a few days. Before, updating everything manually could take an entire day or more. Now, with Origami, we can keep up with the demand and deliver large quantities quickly.
GoMD knew this pain first-hand. Origami began inside a digital agency, where the founders hit the same bottleneck as everyone else in the industry: growing demand for content, shrinking timelines, and limited resources. Rather than scaling headcount, they built internal tools to automate the repetitive work, organize workflows, and deliver at scale without losing quality. Over time, that operations layer became a product.
Why They Chose CE.SDK
Before building on CE.SDK, GoMD tried the obvious routes. They started with Canva, then went looking for something they could shape around their own workflow.
We initially used Canva but found it pricey for our needs. We sought a similar yet customizable solution and found IMG.LY. Its flexibility and comprehensive documentation made it the perfect fit.
They also considered stitching several tools together. That path did not hold up: combining solutions “started to turn into a Frankenstein,” Felipe laughs, and licensing every tool while automating the middleware between them was getting “too heavy.”
Building the editor from scratch was the other option, and the one they deliberately avoided.
We didn’t find anything in the market that could handle our complete production workflow, so we started building our own application. IMG.LY’s JavaScript framework and mobile-friendly UI were key to our success.
CE.SDK gave GoMD a robust, configurable editing foundation, so the team could spend its engineering effort where it actually differentiated the product: automation, data, and workflow.
How They Built Origami on CE.SDK
At the core of Origami is CE.SDK’s browser-based editor. Around it, GoMD built a proprietary ecosystem: intelligent template management, data and AI integrations, rendering pipelines, workflow orchestration, approval processes, and scalable asset generation. Together they turn a single editor into a complete creative operations platform.
The multiplication is where it gets concrete. A designer builds one master template, and Origami fans it out across every dimension the campaign needs:
- 1 design, 20 formats, 3 CTA or background variations = 60 assets
- 1 design, 20 formats, 50 product variations = 1,000 assets
- 1 design, 20 formats, 50 products, 3 CTA variations = 3,000 assets
The data drives it.
All clients have the same XML file format. We filter these files based on parameter range, converting them into marketable assets. What used to take days now takes just 15 minutes, even for thousands of campaign assets and ads.
To fit real production workflows, GoMD extended the editor with importers for Photoshop, PDF, and PPTX files, plus animation support for richer ad formats.
Importing Photoshop files directly into the editor with all layers intact saved us hours of manual work.
Highlighted Project: Origami

Origami is a creative automation platform built to streamline high-volume marketing production across formats and channels. At its core, it pairs CE.SDK’s editing experience with GoMD’s proprietary automation, so smart templates and API-driven workflows generate thousands of consistent, on-brand assets in minutes, freeing teams for the creative thinking that actually moves campaigns.

The Results
The headline change is speed. Refreshing campaign assets dropped from days to about 15 minutes, even at volumes of thousands of ads.
One project makes the scale tangible. A TV campaign needed 408 video variations under a tight deadline. A production company estimated two weeks of work; a team of freelance designers, about one week. Using Origami, GoMD delivered the full set in a couple of days. The team built a single master template whose variables were the main video, the closing clip, the audio track, and the closed captions. Origami swapped those elements dynamically to generate every version the campaign needed, consistent across all outputs. The project also came in at roughly 80% below the initial cost estimate, turning a long, resource-heavy production cycle into a fast and efficient one.
That same engine now powers dynamic promo grids for TV and digital retail campaigns. Product data such as name, price, image, and audio description flows in from a spreadsheet or a connected system, and Origami instantly generates and updates creatives for TV screens, digital signage, e-commerce, social, and paid media, ready for weekly offers, price changes, or regional variations at scale.
The people using it noticed.
The new system has drastically reduced turnaround times and improved the quality of our ads. We can now respond to market changes much faster.
Overall Impact
The less visible win is where GoMD’s engineers spend their time. By building on CE.SDK instead of a from-scratch editor, the team redirected its effort toward the parts that set Origami apart: automation, workflow orchestration, AI integrations, and production intelligence. The result is a creative operations platform that pairs CE.SDK’s editing strength with GoMD’s expertise in large-scale production.
There is a human side too. Origami’s stated purpose is that no one should have to work late nights or weekends because of production demands. By absorbing the repetitive, technical work, it gives teams their time back for the creative thinking that actually moves campaigns.
GoMD plans to go further with CE.SDK, including AI-driven asset optimization and deeper automation across its marketing workflows. For freelancers, agencies, production teams, and advertisers alike, it is a template for how the right foundation turns creative production from a bottleneck into a scalable advantage.
