Marketing Operations Manager
A structured, data-driven operator who owns the marketing funnel end to end, from tracking and attribution to experiments and reporting. One number to move: qualified sales leads.
About IMG.LY
We build creative editing SDKs used by 600+ customers and powering 500+ million creations every month. We’re bootstrapped, profitable, and growing, and most of our best customers still start with a conversation. Our marketing team is small, senior, and fast. We need someone to make it measurable.
The role
You’re the structured, data-driven half of a small marketing team. Right now that team is a handful of strong specialists: someone driving campaigns and positioning with deep product and market knowledge, part-time SEO, and product marketing. Each is excellent in their lane, but no one owns making the whole thing measurable and coordinated. That’s the gap you fill.
You’ll partner most closely with the person who owns campaigns and messaging. They bring deep product knowledge, a sharp read on the market, and no shortage of ideas. You bring the structure and rigor to turn the best of those ideas into experiments you can actually measure.
Your job comes down to one number: the count of sales-qualified leads, the people who fill out our Contact Sales form. Everything you own points back to it.
This is a hands-on role. You’re not here to manage people; you’re the one in the data, the tag manager, and the dashboards, doing the work yourself. You also bring order to how the team runs: what’s in flight, who’s on it, and whether it’s moving the number.
What you’ll do
- Grow qualified sales leads. Own the one metric that matters (SQLs from our Contact Sales funnel) and treat every step of the journey as something you can measure and improve.
- Own the funnel end to end. Know it cold: where leads come from, where they stall, and where they convert. Make sure tracking, data collection, and attribution are correct and trustworthy at every touchpoint.
- Keep the plumbing clean, and keep it that way. Tag manager, analytics, attribution, naming conventions: set them up properly once, with a consistent scheme, and hold the line so they don’t drift back into chaos.
- Turn data into insight. Collect it, understand it, find the signal, then turn that into hypotheses worth testing.
- Run experiments. Design the test, ship it, measure it, and let the data decide. Kill what doesn’t work; double down on what does.
- Own the paid acquisition funnel. Monitor Google Ads, dig into keyword ROI and fine-tune conversions, and source prospect lists to run ABM campaigns to them on LinkedIn.
- Report to leadership. Write executive summaries that actually say something: what’s working, what isn’t, and what you’re doing about it. No dashboards without a story.
- Keep the team’s work visible. Across campaigns, SEO, and product marketing, track what’s in flight, know who’s working on what, and keep everyone honest about status and impact.
- Use AI to move faster. Lean on it for analysis, reporting, automation, and quick internal tooling, while keeping a critical eye on what to trust.
What a typical project looks like
Say we’re launching a new server-side video renderer. Here’s the shape of your week:
You start with the inputs, not the ad account. You work through recent customer interviews, map the jobs-to-be-done, and scan the competitive landscape, and that seeds your keyword research. You forecast keyword volume, build out the ad groups, and define a new proxy conversion for prospects requesting trial credits, wiring it up through Google Tag Manager. You launch, then watch: monitoring campaign performance and standing up an A/B test to see whether the marketing page or the docs converts better for this audience.
The next day, you vibe-code an extension to the reporting dashboard adding LLM-visibility metrics that track brand mentions and our key terms across AI assistants. By the end of the week the launch has a measurement spine: you know what it’s costing, what’s converting, and where the renderer is showing up in the places buyers now look.
AI-first, by default
This role is AI-first, and we welcome competent AI usage. You’ll have your own stack of skills and MCPs to power your workflows for analysis, reporting, automation, and building the small internal tools that make the team faster (like that dashboard extension). We care that you use AI well and critically: it multiplies what one structured operator can ship, and you keep judgment over what to trust.
What we’re looking for
- Genuinely data-driven and structured. You reach for the numbers before the opinions, and you organize your work so others can follow it.
- Hands-on and self-directed. Comfortable owning outcomes in a small team, or on your own, without a big team to delegate to.
- A low tolerance for mess. When you inherit a tangled tag manager, analytics, or attribution setup, you can’t leave it alone; you rebuild it clean, name things consistently, and keep it that way.
- Fluent across the funnel. You understand how tracking, attribution, and lifecycle fit together, and where they quietly break.
- A clear communicator. You can turn a messy dataset into a one-page summary a founder can act on.
- Structure to other people’s spark. Happy bringing rigor, coordination, and follow-through to a team that’s long on ideas and craft but short on process.
Bonus points
- Experience with B2B, PLG (product-led growth), developer-tool, or SaaS funnels
- Hands-on with GA4, Google Tag Manager, attribution tooling, and a BI/dashboard tool
- SQL or light scripting to get at the data yourself
- Marketing automation / CRM experience (HubSpot or similar)
- Built or rebuilt a tracking and attribution setup from scratch before
What we offer
- A bootstrapped, profitable company that thinks long-term, with no VC pressure
- Real ownership of the number that drives the business
- Tools and budget for genuine experimentation
- A Claude Max account of your own: we buy the frontier AI tools, not the add-on that shipped with the office suite
- Paid time to learn what AI can do, because getting good with it is part of the job here
- A small, senior team where your impact is visible
