Why Patent Licensing Matters#
CE.SDK Renderer is a Linux-based tool distributed via Docker that performs audio and video encoding and decoding operations. Modern video codecs such as H.264 (MP4) and H.265 (HEVC) are protected by numerous patents held by various patent pools and licensing organizations. Unlike some proprietary operating systems that may include licensed codecs, Linux distributions and Docker containers typically do not include these codecs due to licensing restrictions and costs.
To provide our customers with a fully legal, patent-safe solution that can be used commercially without risk of patent infringement, we have partnered with Fluendo S.A. Fluendo manages the complex patent licensing requirements on behalf of our users, ensuring that all necessary codec licenses are properly obtained and maintained. This allows you to use CE.SDK Renderer in commercial applications with confidence, knowing that all patent obligations are fulfilled.
Codec Technologies#
The avlicensed commercial variant of CE.SDK Renderer includes products, performing audio and video encoding and decoding functions, which are provided by and are copyright of Fluendo S.A., and include the following technologies. This version can only be obtained through our dashboard and after signing up for a CE.SDK subscription.
