Quickstart

Pick a starter kit for your agent framework, run it, and get a PNG and an editable design back from a brief. A typical design job takes around 3 minutes, depending on the model and how hard the brief is.

Each kit runs a design agent with CoDesign against the executor, IMG.LY’s Docker image that runs CE.SDK, IMG.LY’s design engine, and the code the model writes. You give it a brief, a short description of the design you want, such as “a launch post for our spring blend”.

Starter Kits#

Each kit is a complete project on GitHub. Start with the kit for your framework. When you are ready to build your own product, each kit’s page ends with a What to Replace table that shows which parts to swap for yours.

Quickstart Kits#

One Node.js script runs the agent loop, the code that calls the model and the tools, with the framework you use, against the executor in Docker. This is the shape most products deploy.

Complete Apps#

A web page, an agent runner (your server’s agent loop), and the executor in Docker.

  • Agentic Resize — a batch job: re-compose one design for many canvas sizes.
  • Agentic Design Manager — a chat product: people ask an assistant for designs in their brand and keep them in your own storage.

Another Agent Framework#

Any framework that can call tools works too: the SDK’s tools are plain objects that a few lines wrap into your framework’s tool shape, as the kits show. For the interface, see the API Reference.

What You Need#

Each kit’s page lists its own prerequisites. In short:

  • Node.js v22+, for every kit.
  • Docker, for every kit, to run the executor.
  • A CoDesign license key. Contact sales to get a CoDesign license key. It starts the design engine and pays for the model through IMG.LY’s AI gateway, so you need no account with a model provider. Each exported file is charged to your IMG.LY account ( Billing).
  • An Anthropic API key, for the Claude Agent SDK kit only.
  • For the complete apps: also a CE.SDK license for the CE.SDK editor in their page, where a person changes a design by hand; a CE.SDK trial key works on localhost.

Let Your Coding Agent Set It Up#

To have a coding agent, such as Claude Code or Cursor, pick a kit and run it for you, give it this prompt. It reads this page and follows the kit’s steps.
