# Photobook Editor

## Definition

A CE.SDK Starter Kit for building print-ready photobooks in the browser. Customers pick a book size and a style, add their photos, and get a filled book they can rearrange page by page, check for print problems, preview as spreads, and export as a CMYK PDF/X-4 file with a FOGRA39 output intent.

The Photobook Editor runs on the standard CE.SDK editor UI in the Adopter role. Customers fill in photos and text, switch layouts, and add or reorder pages, while the slots each layout defines stay where the template put them. Teams that want a fully custom interface on the headless engine can start from the separate [Custom Photobook UI](https://img.ly/demos/photobook-ui.md) starter kit instead.

## What the Photobook Editor Includes

- A start screen for the book size (portrait 22 × 28.6 cm or square 25 × 25 cm), the style, and whether photos are placed automatically or by hand
- Auto-fill that matches photos to slots by shape on each page, so they crop as little as possible
- A library of 358 layouts per page format, grouped by photo count. Photos carry over when a layout changes, and extras wait in a per-page stash until a layout has room
- A live validation sidebar that flags low-resolution images, duplicate photos, empty image slots, and unreplaced placeholder text
- A preview that shows the cover laid flat and the inside pages as facing spreads
- Export to CMYK PDF/X-4 in the browser, with an optional Node.js server that takes over rendering for large books

## Typical Use Cases

### Consumer Photobook Services

Print-on-demand services for users assembling photos from a recent event, such as a wedding, a holiday or a graduation. Auto-fill turns an upload into a filled book in one step, and the print checks catch low-resolution or missing photos before the order reaches production.

### Photography Platforms & Studios

Offer printed products alongside digital delivery. Embedding a photobook creation flow keeps the customer within the platform from shoot to print order, rather than directing them to a third-party tool where the studio loses visibility into the transaction.

### Event Keepsakes & Gifting Products

Sports teams, schools, travel companies: a curated photo collection that needs to become a physical object. Style templates let the platform keep consistent branding or event-specific styling while customers choose their own photos.

Web (Vanilla JS/TS, React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, SvelteKit, Next.js, Nuxt.js), Electron.
