One-year-old Luis will face many inequalities and difficulties growing up as an indigenous child in a farming community in Peru, where he sits playing with the hair of an elderly woman. He is one of four million indigenous inhabitants in the country who continue to face unequal access to health care and educational services. UNICEF works with the government to ensure more indigenous children are legally registered as citizens, enabling them to enrol in school and access health care. However, a lack of health professionals in remote areas restricts progress.©UNICEF/NYHQ2011-1603/Roger LeMoyne #childrenoftheworld
